The Promise: A Father, His Horse, and the Healing Between Them
Through My Horse’s Eyes: A Father’s Journey from Broken Marriage to Healing and Purpose
This is not just a horse story — it’s a story about survival.
Dr. Hamza Mousa shares a raw, emotional journey of how a failing marriage, isolation, and betrayal nearly broke him — until a horse changed everything. What began as an escape turned into a lifeline, a mentorship, and ultimately, a mission.
In Through My Horse’s Eyes , you’ll discover:
- How one man found purpose, discipline, and strength through an unexpected bond with his horse
- The painful truth behind fake gatekeepers in the horse world who exploit people’s love for horses
- Why riding isn’t about dominance — but communication, trust, and respect
- The powerful lessons horses teach us about honesty, loyalty, and being present
- How horsemanship helped rebuild a relationship with his son and inspired a future in equine-assisted therapy
Whether you're a rider, a parent, or someone searching for meaning after loss or failure, this memoir will remind you that healing often comes from the most unlikely places — sometimes on four hooves.
A promise kept. A life saved. A lesson learned.
Ride with him. See the world through his horse’s eyes.
The Story Behind This Book
Some people tried to steal my horse. When they failed, they tried to make me sell him. Then they offered me money for something I hold sacred. They don’t understand that some things cannot be bought, Love. Loyalty. Honor. Because they lack these very things themselves.
It is a promise, I made to my son. "Dad, don’t sell your horse. I love to see you ride. You smile more when you ride." I promised him, No amount of money can ever match the value of that promise! This horse gave me strength, purpose, and a mission.
He saved me from a marriage like a prison, from being buried alone in a godforsaken place filled with dishonor and betrayal. And I will never betray that.
So, I recorded how my horse saved me, how my promise to my son made me a better man, and how I see riding as well as how I believe riders should ride!
It is a Memoirs of a Rider, Father, and Survivor!
This Book is about that!
